Cataract Surgery
When the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy, usually with age, the condition is called a cataract.
This is one of the most common causes of decrease vision as we grow older. Fortunately the condition can be cured very successfully by removing the cataract from the eye and replacing the cloudy lens with one that stays clear for the rest of your life.
The new, modern technique being employed in our offices to remove cataracts is called phaecoemulsification, although many people refer to it as laser cataract surgery.
THE PROCEDURE
The procedure is very comfortable, completely painless, without the need to disturb the body. There is no need for sticking with needles or administering intravenous fluids. Usually if one is able to lie flat for 10 minutes, they can be candidates for the procedure. Patients are usually on their way home within 5 minutes after having the procedure and in most cases they can resume their normal activity and they experience better vision from the first few days after the procedure.

Yag Laser Surgery
Yag laser surgery is used to remove any clouding of the protective membrane left to protect the eye after cataract surgery. The laser causes photo disruption of the membrane, causing it to disappear. The treatment usually only takes a few minutes and is completely painless.
