Contact Lens Examination

Contact lenses are an alternative form of vision correction that can give you freedom in a way that spectacles cannot. However, as contact lenses sit on the front surface of the eye, to be considered for contact lenses, you must first complete a contact lens consultation.

After completing a full eye examination (see comprehensive eye exam) a contact lens consultation can be performed to establish whether or not an individual is suitable for contact lenses. This will involve a detailed discussion of the needs/expectations of the individual, followed by measurements of the anterior eye.

A detailed examination of the outer surface of the eye is then performed with a special microscope to establish the health of the front surface if the eye. If successful, contact lenses will be fitted and assessed which will give you the opportunity to experience what it feels like to wear lenses.
We will then guide you through the insertion and removal of your lenses and teach you how to clean and look after them.

It is essential that all contact lens wearers have a contact lens follow up at least once a year.
Contact lenses are medical devices that are applied to the front surface of the eye, so care must be taken at all times to ensure proper management. At your yearly appointments you should come in wearing your current contact lenses and bring your contact lens case and most recent pair of glasses.

Here at the Eye Boutique we carry a wide range of contact lenses to ensure our patients have the best possible options. We also do specialist contact lenses for a variety of ocular surface conditions such as post-surgical contact lenses, prosthetic contact lenses and contact lenses for keratoconic patients (see Keratoconus clinic). Additional tests may be required for such specialist contact lens needs.

Covid-19 Update: The health and safety of our patients and staff are important to us. All safety precautions are being taken to reduce the risk of exposure. Please call us to make an appointment before coming in.
